Today in Tech – 1949

On this day in 1949, former IBM president Thomas J. Watson Jr. predicted in a sales meeting that all moving parts in machines would be replaced by electronics within 10 years. Watson was then the Executive Vice-President of IBM, and became president just 3 years later. His visionary ideals were instrumental in bringing the company to dominance in the production of all kinds of computers, from PCs to workstations.
